Day Escapes

Are you planning a Day Trip to Anna Maria Island?

Are you planning a trip to Anna Maria Island? Discover the old Florida charm of Anna Maria Island with a plethora of activities in a gorgeous natural setting. Here are our top 5 recommendations for Day Escapes by Book A Little Sunshine.

Our first recommendation is a leisurely bike ride from our shop on Bradenton Beach to the Donut Experiment on Pine Ave and back.  Then take in the sights and wonders of a Dolphin Watch Cruise through our beautiful Intercoastal waters.

Looking to scratch an activity off your bucket list?  Then we suggest a Segway Tour along the Coquina Trail.  Afterwards enjoy lunch at the Bridge Tender Inn known for their authentic coastal cuisine and margaritas.  In the afternoon enjoy the shops and a round of mini golf on Historic Bridge Street.

For an eco experience we recommend a kayak or stand up paddle tour through the mangroves of Neil Preserve and the protected waters of Palma Sola Bay.  Since you’ve worked up an appetite stop for lunch at Skinny’s for their top rated hamburgers.  Then the early afternoon brings you back to Palma Sola Bay for an adventure on horseback along the beach.

To take an aerial view of Anna Maria Island chose from Parasailing or a Light Aircraft Tour over our beautiful Gulf of Mexico waters.  Both offer great photo packages for your vacation memory keepsake.  For lunch take a look at the delicious delivery menu from Scott’s Deli and we’ll have it delivered to the beach where your Beach Set Up will be awaiting you.  All you have to do is dig your toes in the sand and feel the warm Florida sunshine on your face. Chose from Beach Chairs, Umbrellas, Canopies, Coolers, Corn Hole, Kayaks, Stand Up Paddle Boards and more.

Many people have heard about Egmont Key but aren’t entirely sure what there is to do there.  Let us take care of that for you.  We offer a great Boat Excursion to Egmont Key that is a Day Escape in itself.  The trip departs daily at 10 am and returns at 2 pm.  Bring aboard anything you’d like, including food and drinks, and set off for an adventure to Egmont Key.  Egmont Key is a Florida State Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, there is a light house to see as well as Spanish Ruins to explore.  If the weather and water conditions are favorable the snorkeling can be great and the beaches are fantastic.  By the way there is snorkeling gear on board. Be sure when you make it back to the dock to head over to the Creamery to cool off with an ice cream treat.
