Recycling Tshirts, Recovering Lives
We want our retail to have a story, but to also have a cause takes it one step further. We had the opportunity to meet Evelyn at a local market and were immediately drawn to her meaningful cause and beautiful craft. Recover T is about second chances. It’s about giving back to what saved her life and helping others to find the light and peace that Evelyn found in recovery. Recover T began when she was fresh out of treatment, rediscovering her life, and still under financial restrictions. Evelyn didn’t have enough money to buy gifts for all the people that had helped her along in her journey, and so she got creative. Her accessories gained quick popularity, and before she knew it, she was invited to display her goods at a local charity event. Her vision snowballed, and it was backed with passion, gratitude and a drive to succeed in her new way of life.
As Recover T continued to grow, Evelyn decided that it was time to do more for the community. Her “Just Cause” bracelets are available for a minimum donation of $3, which is donated to The Turning Point of Tampa’s Charitable Foundation. The Charitable Foundation helps to scholarship people through treatment for addiction and eating disorders. The only money that comes to the foundation is from the community, so the donations are depended on by people who want and need help but can’t afford it.
Recover T also gratefully accepts clothing donations, and whatever cannot be used to make jewelry is donated to treatment centers and halfway houses across the Tampa Bay Area to build closets for those who are starting over.
You can now find Recover T in several local Tampa Bay area boutiques, local pop-up markets, Etsy, and social media forums.
